Bournemouth 2009 was a busy and exciting Conference for the Campaign, with events, training and networking going on constantly throughout the four days.
CGB is ran a full programme of training at Autumn Conference, covering a range of skills and useful information. We received fantastic feedback from all the sessions, so if you managed to come along then we are glad you found it helpful!
The fringe event, 'Real Women, Real Lives: Looking at the Women's Policy Paper', was held in partnership with Women Liberal Democrats and the Federal Policy Committee, and provided an opportunity for the packed room of attendees to hear expert speakers talking about different aspects of the Women's Policy Paper. The fascinating discussion included representatives from the Fawcett Society and Women's Aid attended, as well as Dinti Batstone, London Euro candidate in 2009, and Professor Helga Dittmar, who specialises in research around body image. The Women's Policy Paper was debated at Conference on Saturday afternoon, and was passed through Conference with huge amount of support - well done to all those involved!
The CGB Annual Fundraising Auction is the Campaign's main fundraising event of the year, helping us to support women who want to become Parliamentary Candidates. Don Foster MP auctioneered a range of fabulous prizes, including a tour of the Tate Gallery for up to 6 people, week stays in holiday cottages in Exmouth and Latvia; a photo session with an award-winning photographer, and tea on the House of Commons terrace with our Party President, Ros Scott. The event raised over five thousand pounds, which is fantastic - thank you to everyone who donated or attended the event.
As usual, the Campaign held a stall in the Exhibition Hall to provide a hub of information for any women who want to become candidates, or anyone interested in the support the Campaign offers. We had an excellent response, with a full enquiry list and many new mailing list members and potential candidates - we look forward to seeing them at future events!
